Working  together for Fair.Votes.

The Fair.Vote campaign, led by the Association of Colleges and the National Union of Students, brings together individuals, organisations and MPs from all sides of the political spectrum and all parts of the country who believe that democracy should be open and fair.

Our aim is simple:

Work with partners and politicians to lower the minimum legal voting age in UK elections to 16.

Fair.Vote would ensure equality across the United Kingdom

There is a fundamental inequality of rights across the UK. Currently, 16 and 17-year-olds in Scotland are able to vote for their representatives in Holyrood, and in their local elections.

It is likely that Wales will follow suit soon. By lowering the voting age in English and Northern Irish elections, there would be equality across the UK.

we've long agreed that taxation without representaTION IS NOT FAIR - SO LET'S END IT

Eradicating 'taxation without representation' has long been one of the fundamental reasons for extending the franchise. It is only right that this continues.

We tax 16 and 17-year-olds, we allow them to join the armed forces, they are able to marry or enter a civil partnership, they can even become a director of a company, but we don't allow them to vote. This must change.
